Cafe Ju Xing Home

Ju Xing Home is a popular, no‑frills Cantonese restaurant located in Prince Edward, Hong Kong.

This “hole‑in‑the‑wall” is always jam‑packed, and the draw is entirely down to chef‑owner Ng’s cooking, not the decor or service. The menu focuses on Cantonese stir‑fries, alongside a few spicy options. Live seafood also features prominently, with dishes such as pan‑fried prawn in soy sauce and steamed eel in black bean sauce.

The must‑try dish is the salt‑baked Wenchang chicken – succulent, flavoursome, and tends to run out early. Reservations are recommended, and it is worth pre‑ordering the chicken to avoid missing out.

Ju Xing Home is my favorite casual dining spot because it perfectly captures the two most essential elements of Hong Kong's food soul: "wok hei" (the breath of the wok) and genuine human connection.

What draws me here is the raw vitality of their cooking. They take humble, everyday dishes and execute them with such mastery and precision that every bite feels like a celebration of tradition. It is a place that rejects pretension, focusing instead on consistency and soul. Beyond the flavors, it offers a sense of warmth and belonging that you can only find in a cherished neighborhood gem. In the hustle and bustle of this city, Ju Xing Home is my ultimate comfort — a place where the vibrant spirit of Hong Kong is showcased to its fullest

Ju Xing Home is where I often head to for gathering with my fellow chef friends. I am particularly impressed by their 'Braised Lobsters with Pan-Fried Vermicelli'. The lobsters are perfectly cooked and the vermicelli is crispy, making it a delightful dish to enjoy
