Vicky Lau
Chef Vicky Lau is a culinary entrepreneur and the chef-owner of TATE Dining Room, where she holds two Michelin stars — making her the first female chef in Asia to achieve this. After a degree in advertising and graphic design from New York University, she pivoted to cooking, earning the Grand Diplôme from Le Cordon Bleu in Bangkok.
She opened TATE in 2012, creating seasonal "Edible Stories" menus that blend French technique with Asian influences. In 2015 she was named Asia's Best Female Chef by Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, and in 2021 she received her second Michelin star. She also runs the one-Michelin-starred, Michelin Green Star MORA (focused on soy-based French-Chinese cuisine), plus DATE by TATE, Ān, and JĪJĀ (Yunnan and Southwestern Chinese cuisine). She has been recognised as Hong Kong Tatler's Chef of the Year and received Harper's Bazaar's Visionary Women Award.
