Barry Quek
Whey
Chef Barry Quek is the Head Chef of Whey, a one-Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong. Born and raised in Singapore, he trained at Michelin-starred restaurants including Joël Robuchon and Les Amis before working in Belgium, Australia, and London.
In May 2021, he opened Whey, blending his international experience with Singaporean childhood flavours. The restaurant earned its Michelin star just eight months later. His philosophy — using every ingredient — is reflected in dishes like "Onion Porridge" and "Lemak Three Yellow Chicken," merging Western techniques with robust Singaporean flavours.
